Professional Experience

Stephen Shih is the Associate Dean (MBA programs) at Hong Kong University of Science & Technology and an Adjunct Professor of Management. In addition to teaching in the business school, he has served as the Head of MBA Career Services and Corporate Relations and developed case studies on AI and business development with the HKUST Thompson Center for Business Case Studies. He also hosts the HKUST MBA Superconnector Podcast.

Prior to joining HKUST, Stephen was a Partner at the global consulting firm Bain & Company. As a consulting Partner, he worked with clients from around the world on strategy development and organization improvement. He developed a broad business perspective with experience consulting to senior executives in industries including Advanced Manufacturing & Services, Financial Services, Healthcare, Private Equity, Retail & Hospitality, and Technology. He also served as the Head of Bain’s Asia-Pacific Organization practice area. He has been based in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Boston.

At Bain, he served in talent management roles such as Executive Vice President, Learning & Development and Head of Asia-Pacific MBA recruiting. He was also a recipient of the Bright-Dix award for contributing to the professional development of others.
